Levels of Care
STR Bucks County offers a seamless continuum of outpatient care — from the structure of PHP through IOP and into supportive housing — designed to meet each client’s needs at every stage of recovery.
Partial Hospitalization Program
STR Bucks County’s PHP provides a higher level of clinical support and structure while clients continue living in the community. Programming includes five hours per day, Monday – Friday, with services such as individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management, case management, and peer support.
Intensive Outpatient Program
STR Bucks County’s IOP provides flexible three-hour treatment sessions, available three to six days per week with day and evening options. Clients receive therapy and ongoing guidance to support progress, including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management, case management, and peer support.
Supportive Housing
STR Bucks County’s optional supportive housing provides a structured, recovery-focused living environment for individuals with substance use and mental health needs. Support includes recovery-oriented guidance, on-site assistance to promote safety and stability, and integration with PHP and IOP services.

What is the difference between PHP and IOP?
Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) are both structured outpatient levels of care, but they differ in intensity and time commitment. PHP at STR Bucks County runs Monday through Saturday and provides the highest level of outpatient structure — ideal for those stepping down from residential care or who need more support than IOP can offer. IOP is less intensive, meeting three days per week with day and evening options available, and is designed for those who are stable enough to manage more independence while continuing to build recovery skills.
How long is PHP or IOP at STR Bucks County?
Length of stay at STR Bucks County is individualized based on each client’s clinical, medical, and social needs. There is no predetermined timeline — because every person’s journey is unique, treatment continues as long as it is clinically appropriate. The treatment team, in collaboration with the client and their loved ones, determines the appropriate length of stay. For those using insurance, the duration of care is also subject to insurance approvals.

Yes. STR Bucks County offers care management services, including assistance with FMLA, short-term disability, and legal matters. Clients meet with their care manager weekly. Please note that long-term disability assistance is not available through this program.
